Japan Long-Short Paragraphs

Almost two years ago, a nuclear power plant malfunctioned in Japan, devastating the areas around it for miles. The plant was believed to be completely safe, but couldn't withstand the destructive power of a major earthquake. The explosion and release of nuclear toxins was centered in Sendai. North of Sendai, there was a thriving urban area full of homes, businesses, and families. Now, all that's left is ruin. Before, the city neighbored a sparkling waterway, which citizens used for boating, fishing, and travel. Currently, the once-friendly water floods the streets. The Onagawa power plant used to be a source of jobs for the people of the city, and supplied necessary power to areas all around. Now, it's just a smoking reminder.
For the citizens of the city, life was normal. They enjoyed their comfortable lifestyle, staying in one place, not being in any immediate danger. They used to come home from work every day to see their families, spend a relaxing evening together, and enjoy being together. But after the explosion, they had to hastily flee their homes. People could enjoy their luxuries in said homes, and spend their spare time on the computer, watching TV, or taking a nap in their warm beds. Sadly, they were forced to leave behind their belongings. They had secure lives with stable jobs that kept them busy and put food in the fridge. Soon after, they were yanked away from their jobs, and what may have been left of their fridge.
The disaster has given people some perspective on the dangers of nuclear power. Japan used to put power plants wherever they were needed and would fit. Now, along with other countries impacted by the disaster, Japan is very careful about its nuclear plant placement, making sure that they’re in places where natural disasters are less devastating.
